It’s been a while since I’ve shared a book review on the blog, so I thought it was the perfect time to share my thoughts about Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine. ♥

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.
Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family’s spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library’s service.
When his friend inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn…
The Reader’s Review
It only took the first few pages for me to fall in love with this series. ?♥️ I am happy that I have 4 more books ahead of me because the only thing that I feel like doing right now is to get lost inside The Great Library series & follow Jess’ journey as he navigates a world where knowledge IS power, and one controlled by The Great Library.
I really loved how Ink & Bone makes you travel to Alexandria straight into the heart of The Great Library. It introduces you to a fantastic cast of characters as they aspire to earn a place inside the Library among many aspirants from all over the world. I loved them all, but Khalila, Thomas & Dario were my favorites (besides Jess, of course!). So bright and SMART, and I cannot wait to see how they continue to develop in the next installments.
This world is cruel and The Great Library has abused their power by withholding knowledge, keeping the world in a state of no change or hope for a better future under the guise that they look out for humanity & neutrality. I just want to keep reading to figure out how the library’s system fell to corruption & how the Burners will continue to act now that it is more apparent that The Great Library is no longer what it used to stand for.
Ack, there’s so much to this book that makes it a timeless read! It had me constantly nodding and reflecting to things that keep happening in our reality. And honestly, reading a book about books? It doesn’t get any better than this! ♥️
