International Bestselling author Angela J. Ford launches her brand new Lore of Nomadia series with Treachery of Water: the story of an alluring nymph, a curious librarian, a renowned hunter and a mad sorceress as they seek to save—or destroy—the empire of Nomadia.
Foul magic stirs in the depths of the sea where sirens are ruled by the whims of powerful water nymphs. But when fever sweeps the watery kingdoms, threatening to destroy the race of sirens forever, a new hero must rise.
Darya, a water nymph, is chosen to find a magical remedy to save her people. But the spell for the cure lies ashore in the Great Library of Nomadia. Forsaking the depths, Darya begins a desperate quest to save her home, her people and everything she loves. But her quest goes awry when she is captured by slave traders who bind her magic.
Nurimil is a legendary hunter known for his skills in procuring magical creatures and artifacts. Unfortunately, a bounty is on his head and he’s on the run with a risky plan to secure his own freedom. A plan that becomes twisted once he lays eyes on Darya.
Araceli the Faun works in the capital city of Nomadia as a librarian. When traveling mages leave behind a mysterious tome she becomes obsessed with it. As she unravels the secrets of the book, it shows her how to summon a dark and devious jinn.
As Darya, Nurimil and Araceli wrestle with their own endeavors, they will soon discover they have the potential to sway the fate of Nomadia. For unrest plagues the empire of Nomadia. A darkness rises, fueled by a cruel sorceress with a hideous desire to throttle magic and rule all races with an iron fist.
Set in an immersive fantasy world with diverse creatures, twisted sorcery, powerful friendships and passionate romance, this series will delight fans of classic epic fantasy including Lord of the Rings, Mercedes Lackey and Ursula K. Le Guin.

What to expect from Treachery of Water
……………..
Buckle up, my friends for an epic adventure through Nomadia!! There’s always something special about books that include deep sea adventures and epic libraries, which you can both find in Treachery of Water. I mean, this book has everything one could hope for: Sirens! Beautiful Libraries! Jinns!! Romance!! Unlikely heroes! Ugh, I loved it.
The story is told through 3 alternating POVs:
– Darya, our mischievous water nymph who is determined to right her mistake of abandoning her position and allowing a witch to pass through their defenses and curse the entire kingdom.
– Araceli, a precious blue Faun working at the Great Library of Nomadia who may or may not accidentally summon a powerful Jinn. (Araceli is my fave! ♥)
– And Nurimil, a magical creature hunter who only wants to be free from the bounty on his head.
Their stories intertwine and I just LOVED getting to follow along their personal journeys as they grow stronger & fix mistakes, as well as challenging the norms of a magically diverse society full of discrimination based on identity, race and political standing.
Packed with magic and adventure, as well as beautiful world-building and wonderful characters, a Treachery of Water is a page-turner at its finest! Please add to your TBR!!
Character Q&A with Araceli from Treachery of Water
Araceli! Lovely to meet you & welcome to The Reader and the Chef. Introduce yourself and tell us about the Great Library of Nomadia!
Araceli: I’m a blue-skinned faun, one of the oppressed races of Nomadia. I grew up in the capital and I don’t remember my family or parents or whether I have any siblings. All I know is the capital and the Great Library of Zandria. It’s magnificent, over a thousand years old with endless books, and some are even magical. Because of my status, I’m not able to access the magic books but Mistress Vina–matron of the library–taught me to read. I love words, but books don’t speak to me the way they do to others, and I can’t find the words that will give my life meaning.
What’s the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?
Araceli: Shyrin is my best friend, she’s one of the elykin, the race who rules the Nomadian empire, but she’s never treated me like I’m less than, she listens and encourages me and that is the greatest kindness of all, friendship.
What’s something you dream of doing?
Araceli: I really don’t know, well, perhaps become an ink mage
Tell us 2 facts about Nomadia!
Araceli: I’ve learned much about the empire from reading. Before it was the Nomadian empire, it was split into seven kingdoms, and those seven kingdoms pay tribute to the capital. The elykin are a superior race and hold the most power in the empire because of their innovation and wisdom, but there is a prophecy concerning the fall of the empire, although many believe it is impossible.
Tell us a little about your jinn!
Araceli: He’s annoying! Did I say that out loud? I get the feeling he wants me to be more than I am. He’s impatient and waiting on me to make wishes when I honestly don’t know what I desire. He says the most impossible things and it doesn’t matter how handsome he is when he’s so arrogant!
Favourite foods!
Araceli: anything Kaiden makes, he’s a very good cook
Lastly, what can we expect from you all during Treachery of Water?
Araceli: I hope to find my purpose and perhaps the magical book will help.
