The adventure she always wantedrevealed a love she could never have.
Felicity, a young librarian, is certain her only adventures will come in the form of the books she reads. When her uncle reveals that the palace librarians have the secret gift of interpreting fairy tales, stories that control the fate of the kingdom, she is thrust into a new world of magic. Between rescuing Cinderella, charming a prince, and battling an evil force trying to sabotage the fairy tale, Felicity realizes orchestrating a happily ever after ending is going to take all of her wits.
However, it’s her heart that is put to the real test. She finds herself having to choose between her own happy ending or protecting the fairy tale she’s been tasked with completing. After the clock strikes midnight, Felicity discovers her world will change forever and some fates are stronger than magic.
… The Reader’s Review …
Oh, my bookish heart! Magic by Midnight was such a DELIGHTFUL read! I loved loved loved everything about it. From the library setting to the fairytalesque quest our main character must pull through, it just made for such a FUN and loveable read!
This book is about a generation of Palace Librarians being tasked to make fairy tales come true. When it’s time for the Crown Prince to find his future queen, a fairy tale is handed to the librarian where it reveals WHO is fated to marry the Prince. So begins the journey of Felicity who, after being told about her duty to the kingdom, must find her best friends’ fairy tale love, even if it means ignoring her own heart.
I am pretty much in love with Magic by Midnight’s concept! Our heroine, Felicity, is always yearning for adventures outside of books but after being tasked with the greatest quest of her life, she soon figures out that fate on its own is a big adventure. It made me laugh out loud when Felicity even admits that she had no idea what it meant to ask for a big adventure and she would pretty much like to go back to reading about them in books. Because yes, Felicity does have it hard, particularly when greater forces are against her succeeding with Prince Alexander’s fairy tale.
Oh, but this book… not going to ruin it or anything but it made my heart hurt quite a bit! Because Felicity and Prince Alexander have been best friends since they were children (their mothers were best friends too) and they have possibly been in love with each other since forever. Now Felicity MUST make his fairy tale come true. She MUST make Cinderella and Prince Alexander have their Happily Ever After, or else the fate of the Kingdom would be ruined. And yet Felicity and Alexander cannot deny their feelings for each other and akjskfhfkjsfkjh. SO MUCH ANGST OKAY. *There there heart*
So yes, I loved Magic by Midnight and I cannot recommend it enought! It is such a refreshing take on fairy tales and I am hungry for more! I so cannot wait for the sequel because I just LOVE the next fairy tale Felicity will have to meddle with (Jack!!! Giants!!!). And perhaps… maybe… to see more of Prince Alexander. ♥
I loved this book so much that I even made a few phone wallpapers with a few of my favorite quotes! ♥
