Why you need to read Kingdom of Essence
First of all, let me say how excited I was to start reading this series! I mean, look at that cover, it’s gorgeous!! 😍❤️ Plus a kingdom with mages, magic, a powerful heroine, heists, secrets, lies, betrayal, adventure and an irritable handsome opportunist that loves money and I’m all in!!
The story starts when Elitsa starts questioning her career choice as one of the mages’ puppets to steal relics that have the ability to recollect nature essences. Her motive: to find out the truth behind her mother’s death. Looking to take a break after her work contract is over, she’s having second thoughts as she discovers that anyone that decides to leave the organization is apparently dead?! Searching for answers, she begrudgingly starts to work with a dodgy organization that “claims to actually care for the people instead of the lazy king”. *Sigh* She really cannot catch a break.
As we step into Elitsa’s life, we start understanding the position she’s in. How difficult her decision was of joining the organization that cares nothing for the kingdom’s residents, her anger and desperation of finding her mother’s killer, how scared she is of loosing the people she loves and her constant worry for herself since her future seems darker than she imagined. Not to mention she is constantly questioning EVERYTHING: who to trust, what to do next and is there really a future for her? I honestly felt so tired for her and I was desperately wishing for success to find her answers and to start a new life away from it all.
Elitsa is a serious person (and quite scary for some 😂), but it was a pleasant surprise to find the added humor into the story as she has the magic to attract so many rascals into her life. One of them is Pipene, her best friend but basically a sister to her, she’s such a cheery person and very devoted to Elitsa. And then there is Cas, a super vain outspoken guy that works in the same organization as Elitsa. Everytime he would enter a scene it was for chaos and I just couldn’t stop laughing at his witty comebacks! 😂❤️ And then there is the matter of thieves and unwanted assassins she needs to deal with on a daily basis, the quiet humor behind that was much appreciated.
Aah, such an amazing read!! And there is so much more to talk about like the heists she was almost forced to participate in and the nature magic that it’s used in this world known as essences. But I will say no more of the matter to avoid spoilers. It was truly a fantastical read and I cannot wait to read sequel since it promises adventure as we follow along Elitsa’s journey!! 🙌📚

Kingdom of Essence Menu!
As part of our tour stop, we decided to design a Kingdom of Essence Menu! So in this world, if you want to use magic you must replenish your body constantly otherwise you lose energy. And the best way to do it is by eating!! And we do LOVE food so we very much approve of this method. Although the Kingdom of Casekraia is facing a food shortage (among many other problems), our heroines of this story are working tirelessly to end them so not to worry, they got this. This bookish menu is inspired by all the food I found while reading Kingdom of Essence! 🤩 Let me know what you think!!!
