YA Historical/Thriller
Move over, Charlotte Brontë. The authors of the New York Times bestselling My Lady Jane are back with an irreverent spin on Jane Eyre—a tale of mischief, romance, and supernatural mayhem perfect for fans of The Princess Bride or A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.
You may think you know the story. Penniless orphan Jane Eyre begins a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester—and, Reader, she marries him. Or does she?
Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions in this stand-alone follow-up to My Lady Jane, which was called “an utter delight” (ALA Booklist, starred review), and “an uproarious historical fantasy that’s not to be missed” (Publishers Weekly, starred review).
We are super proud of how this bookish menu came out! ♥ Whenever my sister and I come up with bookish menus, we love to name or describe the dishes based on the scenes they are mentioned in. It’s definitely not easy or quick to come up with creative names or to shorten the descriptions enough to fit in, but it’s always FUN and with My Plain Jane’s Menu it was no exception! We had a blast narrowing down our food choices (because there was a LOT of tea!) and the general discussion of the book while we worked was so worth the time spent doing this. OH! And when it comes to the pricing, instead of the value we used the number of the page the food/drink was mentioned in (for reference ;).
We’re the authors of the young adult novels, MY LADY JANE, and MY PLAIN JANE, which is coming in June 2018. Our group is made up of Brodi Ashton (New York Times bestselling author of the EVERNEATH series and DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY), Cynthia Hand (New York Times bestselling author of the UNEARTHLY series, THE LAST TIME WE SAY GOODBYE, THE AFTERLIFE OF HOLLY CHASE, and THE HOW AND THE WHY), and Jodi Meadows (New York Times bestselling author of the INCARNATE trilogy, the ORPHAN QUEEN duology, and the FALLEN ISLES trilogy). Between the three of us we’ve written nineteen novels, a bunch of novellas, a handful of short stories, and a couple of really bad poems, but we have the most fun working on our books together. We’re friends. We’re writers. We’re fixing history by rewriting one sad story at a time.
I think I will skip the porridge and just stick to cookies & tea!
Good choice!!! 😀
I'd love to read a retelling of Joan of Arc ^^
Me too! She got the raw end of the deal in real life so I'd love for her to get some justice in a novel.
Ahhh Joan of Arc!!! Totally in with you on that! ♥
I love these bookish menus, they're so fun. I'm always down for cookies, and despite not liking tomatoes, I love tomato soup–and avoiding conversations! 😉
The porridge on your insta looks so tasty. Now I’m hungry!
I will take the tomato soup, roast beef, heaping plate of cookies, and water (because I don't do tea in any form), please! LOVE the menu. The graphics & fonts are perfect!
