Today, the lovely Nicole from Quality Fangirls, is here to match some of her favorite book characters to the elements from Avatar: The Last Airbender!
Air is the element of freedom. The Air Nomads detached themselves from worldly concerns and found peace and freedom.
Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower
I don’t know why Charlie reminds me of an Air Nomad, but he does. I feel like through out all of Perks, he was just trying to find some peace in his life and find himself. He would fit perfectly among the Air Nomads and probably be best friends with Aang if he could.
Fire is the element of power. The people of the Fire Nation have desire and will and the energy and drive to achieve what they want.
Ronan Lynch from The Raven Cycle
Fire is pretty destructive in nature, and part of me feels this about Ronan. His whole nature is aggressive and most of the time he just acts. That’s on par with the fire benders. He definitely wouldn’t be able to generate lightning though with all his personal turmoil in the beginning of the series. Probably towards the end seeing as Ronan is someone who seems like he’d be able to separate the two energies.
Earth is the element of substance. The people of the Earth Kingdom are diverse and strong. They are persistent and enduring.
Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games series
Katniss may be the girl on fire, but I believe she would be from the Earth Kingdom. Earthbenders know how to stand their ground and are very resilient, and I feel like Katniss is too. How else would she have survived the games? It’s all about waiting and listening, and then taking advantage of the opportunities to strike. That sounds pretty Katniss to me, most of the time at least.
Water is the element of change. The people of the Water Tribes are capable of adapting to many things. They have a sense of community and love that holds them together through anything.
Isuelt det Midenzi from The Witchlands series
I tried not to use anyone who already wielded an element, but I just couldn’t resist. If Iseult wasn’t from the Witchlands and was from the world of Avatar, then I totally think she would be from one of the Water Tribes. She knows how to think with a level head and so completely adaptable. That is why Safi relies on iseult to come up with a plan when things go wrong. Plus when someone hurts her loved ones, there’s no stopping Iseult.
Loved this, Nicole! I’m not familiar with most of the characters, but I agree on Katniss belonging in the Earth Kingdom. She also has the same kind of attitude as Toph too. So thanks so much for writing this! To my readers: if you want to know more about Nicole, you should definitely visit her blog! ♥
I am currently 22 years old, living in Long Island, in my second year of Grad school studying Physical Therapy (totally not book related, I know). Grad school basically takes up most of my time (if I disappear, you know where I went off to) but I try to blog during my breaks and I read as much as I can. Books are my life so I try very hard to juggle between school and books (school must come first though!). I am pretty quiet most of the time, so if we ever meet in person and I’m not much of a talker, I’m so sorry! (It’s me, not you!) I love meeting new people, especially in the book blogging community! Besides books, I love art and writing, though I can never find the time to get back into it (maybe sometime soon?). OH, and I am a big tennis fan! Any tennis book lovers out there?Books: Harry Potter (duh), Gemma Doyle Trilogy, The Raven Cycle, Bloodlines/Vampire Academy Series, Truthwitch, Throne of Glass, The Archived, Saga, The Rat Queens, Just One Day, Perks of Being a Wallflower, among other books…Movies: Titanic, Stuck in LoveTV Shows: Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra (minus book 4, we don’t talk about it..)
