Hello lovely readers! Welcome to my first mission of Sassy’s Fangirl Debuts! If you missed my earlier post about the S.F.D., here is a recap:
Sassy’s Fangirl Debuts is a super elite group of agents who have crossed their hearts and sworn to die (not necessarily) to promote and cheer on 2016 debut authors and their books. This amazing team of agents was pulled together by the wonderful Talina, also known as Agent T, of Sassy & Dangerous book blog! Together, we will be doing our very best to be carrying on secret (okay, not THAT secret) missions of spreading the 2016 debut love by writing guest posts, interviews and so much more! For more info about the S.F.D.,, you can check out my post.
Now, back to our first mission for Sassy’s Fangirl Debuts, I am extremely excited (and so very nervous) to show you my open letter to a debut author! I have been assigned to write a letter to the wonderful Emily Henry, author of The Love That Split The World!

The Love That Split The World by Emily Henry
January 26th 2016 by Razorbill
YA Sci-Fi
Natalie Cleary must risk her future and leap blindly into a vast unknown for the chance to build a new world with the boy she loves.
Natalie’s last summer in her small Kentucky hometown is off to a magical start… until she starts seeing the “wrong things.” They’re just momentary glimpses at first—her front door is red instead of its usual green, there’s a pre-school where the garden store should be. But then her whole town disappears for hours, fading away into rolling hills and grazing buffalo, and Nat knows something isn’t right.
That’s when she gets a visit from the kind but mysterious apparition she calls “Grandmother,” who tells her: “You have three months to save him.” The next night, under the stadium lights of the high school football field, she meets a beautiful boy named Beau, and it’s as if time just stops and nothing exists. Nothing, except Natalie and Beau.
Emily Henry’s stunning debut novel is Friday Night Lights meets The Time Traveler’s Wife, and perfectly captures those bittersweet months after high school, when we dream not only of the future, but of all the roads and paths we’ve left untaken.

Open Letter to Emily Henry
Dear Emily Henry,
First of all, Hiiiiii! *cue fangirling* I’m beyond thrilled to have the chance to write you this letter today because, well, IT’S YOU. I couldn’t be any happier! When I first saw your book, The Love that Split the World, roaming around twitter a few months ago, it was truthfully a love at first sight kind of thing. I knew back then that this book was a book I needed in my life and a book I MUST get and read at all cost. I honestly cannot wait for that day to come!
But why am I so excited about your book? Well, it’s because of this THING I felt when I first set my eyes on it. It was this pull, this want, this NEED. My heart soared when I first saw it, I swear, because LOOK AT YOUR BEAUTIFUL COVER. I’ve seen it a million times and I can’t get enough of it!
But when I read about it. Gosh, my thoughts were: “Is this for real?! Could this book be as amazing as it sounds?!” Time traveling has always intrigued me, the possibilities are endless, and I love how your book seems to focus on “all the roads and paths we’ve left untaken” (had to quote your perfect blurb!). I have really high expectations, but don’t be nervous about that, you don’t need to worry. I’ve read the reviews! They RAVE, they make this book SHINE. And it makes me so, so, happy. I’m sure you must be beyond happy too. ♥
All I have left to say is that I wish you the best for your upcoming release in January. I’ll probably be fangirling too much on twitter, in here, and everywhere else I can think of. You and your book deserve it!
Much love from one of your booknerds. ♥
– Melissa
About the Author:
Emily Henry is a full-time writer, proofreader, and donut connoisseur. She studied creative writing at Hope College and the New York Center for Art & Media Studies, and now spends most of her time in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the part of Kentucky just beneath it.
Emily’s debut, THE LOVE THAT SPLIT THE WORLD (Penguin/Razorbill, January 2016) is a Young Adult speculative novel pitched as the heady romance and nostalgia of “Friday Night Lights” meets the world-bending mystery of “The Time Traveler’s Wife.” Guided by the enigmatic apparition she calls Grandmother, an adopted teenager must find her place in the world by navigating a cosmic phenomenon that allows her to see different versions and eras of her small Kentucky town; the stakes are raised when she falls in love with a beautiful but elusive boy.

The Love That Split the World is a book that I am hugely excited for too! I put in a request for it so long ago, but I feel like it's one of those books that will be better to wait for. I've never seen Friday Night Lights, but I loved The Time Traveler's Wife, so this one is on my list.
Wonderful letter, Melissa! I hope you enjoy The Love That Split the World once you get your hands on a copy.
Thanks, Erin! ♥ I also requested this book, something I've NEVER done before, and even though I wasn't granted an ARC, I know that be it today, tomorrow or release day, this book will be worth waiting for. 😉
This sounds amazing! I thought that it was a contemporary book. I didn't realize that there was some paranormal aspects to it!
That's what I also thought at first! But then the blurb made it all clear and I was all ooooohhh. ;D
What a wonderful letter, Melissa! I couldn't agree more with you on TLTSTW! I need it like yesterday! <3 That synopsis hooked me and that cover made me fall in love! Awesome, awesome post! 🙂
