An infamous love, destined nevermore,
For death could not claim, the enchanting Lenore.

Cursed by the malevolent spirit of the Headless Horseman, Ireland Crane ventures to Manhattan in search of a way to break her soul crushing bond. Instead, she discovers the lines between fact and fiction are blurring once more. Croaking ravens. Telltale hearts. Could the works of Poe be coming to pass with handsome Wall Street Midas Ridley Peolte as their unwilling target?

She walks the Earth, a plague on mankind,
searching for he, her rotted heart doth pine.

Together, the two unknowingly release a dark force death itself could not tame. Surrounded by the unrelenting violence and mayhem they’ve unleashed, Ireland feels her control over the Horseman slipping. Before the beast within consumes her, she and her crew must follow the clues of the dead to right a centuries’ old wrong. Will it be enough to sate the Horseman’s appetite?

Hell hath no fury like a ghoul scorned.

     *The Reader’s Review*

     My rating: 5/5 stars
Stacey Rourke is brilliant! I’m awed with her talent of bringing back to life dreary legends that rarely get attention nowadays in the recent literary world. Her rendition of the Headless Horseman and Edgar Allan Poe tales are phenomenal, and while I thought that Crane was awesome, Raven made me re-consider my terms. For lack of better words, it’s kick-ass!
Raven’s storyline is fantastic and one that made me turn its pages in record speed. I laughed, I clutched my heart and I feared for the characters in every step of their hunt to help out Ridley Peolte as his life is intertwined with Edgar Allan Poe and his love, Lenore. It’s a dark book, just as much as Crane, but it glows with the rich personalities of every character, not to mention with the breathtaking twists in the legends.
Ireland, Noah and Rip Van Winkle are now hands down my new favorite trio. Scratch that, foursome now with Ridley included. You won’t spend a single dull moment with them around I assure you. And why would you? The Hessian, the nice sarcastic boyfriend, the few centuries old cursed man, and the Poe possessed guy are bound to make an interesting group, and since trouble follows them around like a hungry cat, you can bet they will fight and crack many sarcastic jokes in the process.
But of course, despite everything I went through with this book, it still killed me at the ending. I still can’t quite wrap my head around what happened, only that I’m not okay and I seriously hope for a miracle. It may happen, right Stacey? Please do your magic, I beg of you!
*Sigh* For now, all I have left to say is that Stacey Rourke needs to be praised more often. She’s the master of the art of both raising the hairs on your arms and making you want to laugh out loud. It’s not a usual mix to stumble by, yet it works perfectly well for her. She’s amazing and her books won’t ever let me lie so you have to trust me in this one.
P.S. Go Team Horseman!

  1. Eep this sounds so good and addicting! I love Poe retellings they have such awesome atmosphere (when done well) and this one sounds like it has everything I love about them! Maybe it's best I wait until the 3rd book is out the ending and wait sound killer! >.<

  2. I love retellings, especially of Poe, so I'm really excited about this book! I have Crane on my Kindle already, and I"ll definitely be reading it soon so I can get to Raven!
