The Week’s Entrée #23

Posted July 15, 2014 by Melissa in Uncategorized / 2 Comments

Hi peeps! I couldn’t write this post yesterday, but I thought I should do it today anyway. Better late than never, right? 🙂
I’m almost done with my finals and I’m soooo glad I’ll have more time to read (and good thing since I’m very behind, wish me luck on that!) However, this month will be kind of a struggle to keep up with the blog because I’m traveling to the States this week (yay to that). I won’t have access to internet all the time, but I’ll do my best to be here as much as possible. Hey, I’ll even sacrifice myself and go to libraries and Starbucks constantly if I have to *grins*.
In Other News…

I’m the new contributor at Kate Tilton’s blog! <3 Kate is the wonderful person behind #k8chat, an author assistant, social media wiz and one of my closest blogger friends! (though we have never met). You can find me reviewing at her blog almost every Tuesday (right now I’m doing every two weeks). My first review, Almost Night by Emily White, went up last week. Go check it out!

Books I Bought, Won or Received:

{Won}

I won Revelations (The Merlin Chronicles #1) and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (The Merlin Chronicles #2) by Daniel Diehl from Chené of Mean Who You Are blog. Yay, so glad I won these two! Read the blurb of the first book:

Revelations by Daniel Diehl

In Revelations, the first book of The Merlin Chronicles, archeology student Jason Carpenter discovers a mysterious orb that has housed history’s greatest wizard for 1,600 years. Forced into an uneasy alliance, Jason and Merlin are sucked into a web of deceit, intrigue, and murder in a race to outwit and outrun Merlin’s ancient nemesis, the evil sorceress Morgana LaFay, a gang of drug smugglers, and a 500-year-old Chinese necromancer. It’s a race against time to complete their quest before an army of dragons is unleashed on a vulnerable and unsuspecting 21st century world.

I also won The Silver Strand by L.J. Clarkson from #k8chat. I love the cover of the book, it reminds me a bit of Harry Potter (it’s kid lit too!).

The Silver Strand by L.J. Clarkson

Ever since twelve year old Isabelle Tresdon’s silver strand of hair sprouted, it’s been nothing but trouble: bleeding pink dust and sparking like a firecracker. Refusing to be known as the girl with the freaky, grandma hair, she wishes it never grew and the hair withers and tarnishes.

The only problem is, the strand is Isabelle’s source of magic, and she can transform particles of energy into matter. It’s also her ticket into Mastermind Academy, a secret school inside the earth’s core. Five days remain before the strand drains her magic and life, forcing Isabelle to enter into a deal with two trickster Masterminds to save it. But what she doesn’t count on is that there is more at stake than just her life.

{Received for blog tour}

I received Torn True Love and Tore Divided Love by K.D. Ferguson for Tore’s (the second book in the series) blog tour coming up on August. Can’t wait to read these books, they are dystopian/futuristic. Here’s the blurb of the first book:

Torn True Love

Everyone has a choice. Abide by the government’s rules and regulations and you may live the average life. Or you can become a Sweeper. Krissa Channing’s destination was clear until Braiden entered her life and clouded her future.

Krissa’s future, which once seemed so promising, is compromised when her relationship with Braiden is forced by the hands of the government. The pressure of an automatic pairing pushes them both down a path they never dreamed they’d travel.

While Krissa accepts the change, Braiden revolts against the government leaving Krissa alone, her heart torn. Should she follow the rules and regulations and continue down the road mapped out for her? Or should she go against everything she’s been taught and follow after her true love
