Book Summary:
I will forever protect her with my own life…Reece Bryant, a college student from Earth, had her entire life turned upside down when she discovered her true genealogy. Not only did she discover that life exists beyond Earth, but also that being brought into the dimension of Pemdas would change her life forever.
After she falls helplessly in love with the Emperor of Pemdas’ son, Levi Oxley, she happily accepts his proposal of marriage, and she couldn’t be more excited to start her new life with him in this enchanting dimension. Everything is ideal, and Reece has never felt more content in her life, until unexpected occurrences begin to take place.
Confident that Reece, the Key, is safe in Pemdas, the Guardians are busier than ever protecting Earth from other dimensions who seek to terrorize humans. After introducing Reece as his future wife into royal society, Levi and Harrison resume their duties on Earth where they come across an entity that the Pemdai Guardians have never encountered before. It is when this being is able to read into Levi’s mind, and discover he knows where the powerful stone is, that everything will change for him.
In this installment of the Ancient Guardians series, you will be left guessing as you turn each page, and wondering who is orchestrating the bizarre events occurring within the protected lands of Pemdas. Prepare to encounter the Guardians as fierce warriors, bold and unafraid to do anything within their power to protect the Key, which they have sworn to guard for centuries.
*The Reader’s Review*
My rating: 3.5/5 stars
One thing I love for sure is returning to beautiful worlds intelligently crafted by its authors. From the first book, Pemdas amazed me with its uniqueness. It’s a vibrant, colorful, regency-like world that makes ours pale in comparison. It’s so pretty here, trust me on this.
Now, The Uninvited brings us a very different set of problems than from the first book of the Ancient Guardians series. This time it’s all about shaking our characters inside-out. I liked how this developed throughout the book, how it messed with the characters in such a twisted way. I mean, I LIKE Reece and Levi and their love for each other, but the drama and everything else going wrong was a much needed addition towards their relationship to spice things up a bit.
Although the story is great and I certainly feel like continuing the series, I believe this book dragged a bit for me. It took a long time for things to get interesting and to make me want to rub my hands together gleefully. Oh, and I wasn’t that much thrilled in how Levi and the other characters were so naïve to what was happening to Reece when it was all so clear. And, Reece could have been more open about it, just saying.
Overall, I did enjoy The Uninvited but I was expecting more out of the characters and for the story to move more swiftly. The big highlight for me keeps being Pemdas and a character named Harrison that always makes me laugh and grin like a fool. I hope he snags a bigger role in the next book because really, I’ll be rooting for him in whatever he does. Not forgetting that there’s the big royal wedding of Reece and Levi coming up too. Looks like I’ll go back to Pemdas soon!
It bothers every reader when it takes them a while to get into the real action, but I'm pleased to hear that it didn't stop you from enjoying the book. This series is new to me and it sounds quite unique. Your lovely review certainly got me curious! Thanks, Melissa 🙂
Yeah! It's nice when it's all sweet and stuff, but if there's no real action soon, then we're bound to get bored. Thanks for reading, Silvia. 😀
Hmm dragging plot and the naivety part.. nothing more frustrating. You just want to shake those characters around and say wake up and take a look around!!!
Great review Melissa 🙂
Thank you for reviewing "The Uninvited" for me, Melissa! I really appreciate your honesty about the book! I feel like you caught on to what may have gone on behind the scenes in no time! This was a very difficult book to write and I don't want to throw out any spoilers as to why Reece was annoyingly shameful to discuss what was going wrong with her! You are the first reader, so far, who seems to have figured out the 'mystery' in Pemdas early on and that would definitely frustrate any reader…but, when things get strange, Reece's mind is not her own. (I guess that's the best way of saying it)
As for your Man, Harrison, Yes…He is very excited to step up into main character status in Book 3! He is my favorite character to write and to write in his POV, along with Levi and Reece's made writing the third book a blast!!!
Once again, thank you for your review!!! I love reviews that help readers decide if these books are the type of books they'll enjoy or not enjoy!
Many Thanks,
SL Morgan 🙂
