The Week’s Entrée #9

Posted March 31, 2014 by Melissa in Uncategorized / 4 Comments

It’s Monday once again, so that means another edition of The Week’s Entrée (yaaaaay!).

I believe this week is going to be a quiet one on the blog because our mom came home for a few days and she has us cleaning the house furiously claiming it’s a mess (Lies! Why do moms always exagerate?). But we love her, and we’ve missed her so we’re doing everything she tells us to do.

Anyway…

Currently Reading:

I’m currently reading This Crumbling Pageant by Patricia Burroughs and OH MY GOD it’s amazing! I already featured the cover reveal of this book on the blog so you might have an idea of which book I’m talking about. If not, you can click on the image and it will take you directly to its description on goodreads. I’m only half-way done with it, but so far it has been a wonderful read. Review will possibly be up on the blog this week.

The Chef is quickly devouring Titan Magic: Body and Soul. She read the first book, Titan Magic a couple of days ago and she adored it, so I guess her review will also go live this week. I’ll nag her until she does. Maybe mom will help me…

In other news…

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen comes out tomorrow!  *Happy dance* I just needed to tell you this because I loved this book and I seriously think you want to have it among your favorite books! The world inside this book is magical and beautifully unique. Read my review if you want to know more about this  fantastic book (and then go get it!).
Books I Bought, Won or Received:

I’m really starting to lose track of all the books I get. I seriously have no idea how I will be able to read them all! I’m working on getting more organized with my time if I really want to make a dent in my tbr pile.

{Bought}

The Maze Runner by James Dashner, Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott and Allegiant by Veronica Roth. These are well known books that I’m excited to get through. The first two I bought as kindle copies and my mother bought me Allegiant because she knew I wanted to read it for the first time in print (I own it as a kindle copy too). Gracias. <3

Love Unfeigned by Nadine C. Keels
Published: February 27th, 2013/ Createspace

Love to the chords of a classic jazz band…
From the first time Lorraine, a plucky and competitive girl, contends on the playground against Isaiah, an impish boy whose smile gleams in more ways than one, the two of them can’t help knowing each other. Neither can they avoid passions and misfortunes lining the path to young adulthood, and when the breakup of Isaiah’s family disrupts the haven he’s shared with Lorraine, their natural relationship is eventually threatened by jealousy, grave trauma, and abandonment. As one year follows another, and another, what might it take to reunite these two companions in love: love undeniably real and unbounded by time?
“Everything didn’t have to turn out perfect. I just wanted you there.”
Nadine Keels kindly provided me with a copy of her book (novella) in exchange for an honest review. Love Unfeigned has few but great reviews that made me really excited to read it.
{From Netgalley}

Essence by Lisa Ann O’Kane
Publication date: June 3rd, 2014/ Strange Chemistry
Genre: YA Dystopian

Neutrality is the key to longevity.

This motto has governed 16-year-old Autumn’s life in the mid-21st-century Centrist cult, which believes that expressing emotions leads to Essence drain and premature death.

But Autumn’s younger brother’s death casts her faith into question. While sprinting through a park in violation of Centrist teachings, she encounters Ryder Stone, an Outsider who claims Essence drain is nothing more than a Centrist scare tactic. She agrees to join his Community, a utopia of adrenaline junkies living in the abandoned remains of Yosemite National Park.

Autumn learns about sex, drugs, and living life to the fullest. But as she discovers dark secrets beneath the Community’s perfect exterior, she realises that this illusion of paradise could be shattered…

This book sounds fantastic. I couldn’t stop myself from requesting it on Netgalley and I’m super happy they accepted my request.

To Read This Week:

After I finish reading This Crumbling Pageant, I will definitely start reading Allegiant and find out exactly how this book ends. I don’t want to stumble upon any more spoilers. I’m still sad I know about the important thing that happens at the end. *sob*

And that’s it for this edition of The Week’s Entrée. What are you going to read this week? (I want to know!)

  1. Yay! We're both reading Titan Magic: Body & Soul! 😀 And finally, it's about time you bought Allegiant. Hopefully, no one has spoiled it for you yet which is very unlikely. I love these Entree posts!

  2. Great haul this week! No matter how cheap kindle books are, it is always awesome to get a physical book as a gift 🙂 I really want to try out Veronica Roth's series sometime!

    Happy reading and enjoy every minute with your mom!!
