A thrilling, intricate, and romantic LGBTQ fantasy that builds on Norse mythology.
For as long as Sigrid could remember, she’s wanted to become a mighty, fearless valkyrie. But without a winged mare, she’s a mere stable hand, left wondering who her parents were and why she’s so different. So when the Eye shows her a vision where she's leading a valkyrie charge on the legendary eight-legged horse Sleipnir, she grabs the possibility of this greater destiny with both hands, refusing to let go.
Too bad that the only one who can help her get there is Mariam, an enemy valkyrie who begrudgingly agrees to lead her to Helheim but who certainly can’t be trusted―even if she does make Sigrid more than a little flustered. As they cross the nine worlds, battling night elves, riding sea serpents, and hurtling into fire to learn the truth about Sigrid’s birthright, an unexpected but powerful bond forms.
As her feelings for Mariam deepen into something fiery and undeniable, Fate has other plans for Sigrid. What happens when the one thing you think you were meant to do might end the nine worlds?

Why you need to read The Valkyrie’s Daughter
“A measure of wisdom each person shall have, but sharing it must be restrained. For the wise person’s heart is seldom content, if wisdom too great he has gained,”
Sigrid is a lonely girl that has struggled through life on a daily basis. She has her beloved horse Hestur, good friends and Peter (that is much like an older brother), and together they’re the closest to a family she’s gotten. Sigrid has done the best she can to raise herself, but without people she can call her own, she feels she needs a path in life to see what the universe has in store for her. And that’s how sometimes her actions are a bit reckless. However when she had a vision about herself riding a legendary horse and leading a Valkyrie charge, she’s determined to fulfill that prophecy!! ✨
I love reading about Norse Mythology and I was thrilled to pick up this Fantasy Romance story! Love Mariam and Sigrid, they had a rocky start, but when they reluctantly had to join forces for an epic adventure, they found it hard to resist. As they travel the nine realms we get front row seats and experience through Sigrid’s eyes this fantasy world. We get to meet several characters along the way such as Fisk, a Night Elf who I really liked. And we also discover a little about Sigrid’s and Mariam’s past.
The Valkyrie’s Daughter is about falling in love, how important our animal companions are (in our case: pets 😍), finding a purpose in life, fulfilling dreams and the feeling of belonging to someone. I enjoyed reading this first installment of The Ascend Trials. And after that ending, I’m looking forward to see what’s to become of Sigrid and Mariam in the sequel! ❤️✨

Out-of-context Character Interview with
Sigrid from The Valkyrie’s Daughter!
Hi Sigrid, we’re thrilled to have you in The Reader and the Chef!! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
“I’ve spent my whole life struggling my way through everything, learning about the world by myself. I do know my way around.”…
As the only girl in Vanaheim paired with an ordinary horse at birth, Sigrid’s job was different…
Hestur’s stall was her home—an independent, self-reliant cube, with everything she needed stacked under her hammock at the back. It wasn’t much, but stable hands earned low wages…
…Besides, being raised in a barn wasn’t so bad.
It must have been hard to adapt, but I do feel that you have a very rewarding job plus the stable guys are super kind, specially Peter.
He was twenty-nine years old and the closest person she had to a big brother.
What is your biggest dream?
The gods created the valkyries to maintain balance and peace in the nine worlds, and that purpose called to her more than anything . She wanted to travel with them through the upper and middle worlds, to provide help in emergencies, and to fight and defend innocent lives from the evils of the lower realms. She wanted the reverence that came with being a guardian , a protector, a valued member of the best warriors in the cosmos. Most of all, in her heart, being a valkyrie was her destiny.
Do you think you’re ready to become a Valkyrie?
She might not have attended valkyrie school, but she was as good as any of them. A lifetime of heaving a pitchfork had made her strong, and she’d gleaned generations of horsemanship wisdom from the stable hands. What would it take to convince General Eira that she deserved to join the ranks? It wouldn’t be much longer until the juniors were sent on their inaugural mission, and Sigrid was set on becoming part of their team.
We know that the Valkyries have winged mares, but can you tell us about Hestur?
Her mount was Hestur, and it would always be Hestur. They were a pair. An oddity. They’d both shown up in this world with no explanation, no parents , no bloodlines— a mystery that nobody was bothered to solve…
Hestur might’ve been the most ordinary of all horses—plain brown with no dapples, no markings, and no wings—but this realm had no faster animal.
We absolutely love Mariam!! What were your first thoughts when you saw her for the first time?
Something about the graceful movement froze Sigrid in place. It was the way the daylight illuminated Mariam from behind, framing her like one of the gold statues in the courtyard. She narrowed her eyes, her fiery expression at odds with the soft curves of her face.
She’s truly amazing!! And omg, when you touched the was the Eye of Hnitbjorg and saw your possible future along with her and the Valkyries, I couldn’t believe it! How did you feel?!
Now that she knew what future was possible, one where she led the valkyries on the most powerful stallion in the cosmos, she had to pursue it. This was the destiny she had been searching for.
What can we expect from you in The Valkyrie’s Daughter?
…she’d spent most of her sixteen years trying to prove that it was a mistake not to let her be a valkyrie. It was time to get creative with her methods of proving herself.
Thank you so much for being with us today Sigrid, it was our pleasure to have joined your journey through the pages of The Valkyrie’s Daughter. We cannot wait to meet you again on the sequel! ❤
