Opening with a funeral, Iris is mourning the boy in the casket – but who is it? Sam, her tearaway brother, or Trick, her tentative boyfriend? This book was a surprise to me and I enjoyed reading it so much. Infinite Sky is beautifully written and an emotional first romance story with jaw-dropping twists that is perfect for Contemporary lovers!

What I liked:

When I started reading Infinite Sky, I thought that it was going to be a simple and lovable teenage  romance. This book covers not only that, but some other complicated and sensitive aspects of life like having divorced parents and the emotional effects it might cause, prejudices and judgments in other people’s lifestyle choices, and the unexpected death of a beloved one. It even has a bit of the drama that comes with being a teenager and friends that are not really friends but just simple acquaintances.

The main character in this book is a girl named Iris. I really liked her, and despite her family situation, she is a character that does her best to maintain a lively personality as much as possible. There is a part in this book that I specially liked where she spends time with her brother and formulates a plan to make him finish a drawing on a wall. She knows that her brother Sam is having a very hard time with the break up of their parents and that he is slowly losing himself, so she tries to bring him back on track by encouraging to express himself in something that he loves. I thought that part of the book was specially sweet and endearing, further cementing my respect for the main character.

Another aspect of the book that I liked was the cute romance between Iris and her friend Trick. I thought that it was very sweet the way they met and how it was Iris that kept looking for ways to make their meeting happen. They both developed innocent and sincere feelings toward each other and I cherished the time they spent together.

What didn’t do it for me:

There were some parts in the story that I felt were slow, however I think that it added pretty well at the end so it didn’t really affect my reading experience by much.
Final Verdict:

Inifinite Sky had me teary right at the end. It’s a stunning, surprising read that’s well worth your time!

Happy reading! — The Chef
