Kale Valte
Age: 17
Sentinel
Battle Globe: Purple (Stun)
Description: Quiet, reflective, and would rather negotiate than fight.
Thief of Lies (Library Jumpers Series Book 1) quote:
“You only lose what you choose to lose.”
Kale was born in Manipur, in Northeast India. He is very spiritual and lives by the religion on his people. He’s the only Sentinel curious about where he was born. He’s visited many times and watched the family his born into from afar. His biggest wish is to reveal who he is to his mother and to be part of the family.
In battle, he chooses to believe he’s fighting for a cause. Killing goes against his belief that all life is precious no matter how small or what species it is. When in a fight, he overly thinks things and does everything he can to avoid killing his adversaries, choosing to unarm or maim them instead. In book two, Kale will remain true to his beliefs at a cost.
Guardian of Secrets (Library Jumpers Series Book 2) teaser with Kale and Gia:
Kale inspected the hall. “I haven’t approved this plan.”“We don’t have time for you to process it,” I said. “The Red is distracted.”“Gia’s right,” Uncle Philip said. “We have to act now.”“All right, if one of us falls, the others keep going.” Kale widened the door. “We can’t hesitate, just keep moving. Don’t even stop for a second.”If he stalled any longer, my nerves were going to catch up with me. “Got it. Can we go, already?”It felt like I was in slow motion even though I sprinted across the landing behind Kale and in front of Uncle Philip. We bounded down the back stairs. At the bottom, the moonlight coming from the back door lit up a small hall. I created my battle globe and tossed it at the entry, a pink membrane sealing off the hallway and trapping The Red and the two men out back.

Thief of Lies (Library Jumpers #1)
by Brenda Drake
Entangled Teen / January 5, 2016
Gia Kearns would rather fight with boys than kiss them. That is, until Arik, a leather clad hottie in the Boston Athenaeum, suddenly disappears. While examining the book of world libraries he abandoned, Gia unwittingly speaks the key that sucks her and her friends into a photograph and transports them into a Paris library, where Arik and his Sentinels—magical knights charged with protecting humans from the creatures traveling across the gateway books—rescue them from a demonic hound.
Jumping into some of the world’s most beautiful libraries would be a dream come true for Gia, if she weren’t busy resisting her heart or dodging an exiled wizard seeking revenge on both the Mystik and human worlds. Add a French flirt obsessed with Arik and a fling with a young wizard, and Gia must choose between her heart and her head, between Arik’s world and her own, before both are destroyed.

About the Author
Brenda Drake, the youngest of three children, grew up an Air Force brat and the continual new kid at school. Her fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother’s animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. So it was only fitting that she would choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical. When Brenda’s not writing or doing the social media thing, she’s haunting libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops or reading someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).
