Hi everyone! Today I am super thrilled (freaking crazy excited more like!) to share with you all the second exclusive POV chapter of the Tales From The Front of the Air Awakens Series by Elise Kova! If you are a fan of the Air Awakens series and have been following Elise Kova on twitter and on her Facebook Street Team, you probably know by now that she has been teasing us about some secret plans she’s been hard at work to bring us one step closer to the truth about what really happened at the end of Fire Falling. 
And this is it you guys.  Take a look!
What Is Tales from the Front?
Tales from the Front is a series of notes, alternate POV chapters, and other teasers that take place from just before the end of Fire Falling (Air Awakens, #2) to the beginning of Earth’s End (Air Awakens, #3). They are being sent out at random with the idea that bloggers and readers can ban together to put the puzzle pieces together to find out a different side to the story and uncover truths about the characters.

Bloggers and readers are invited to re-post information so long as they link back to the individual who posted it originally. In fact, this is generally encouraged, as it’ll help connect all the pieces! You never know who will be receiving information and when.
Isn’t this plain awesome?! Some fellow readers have already shared a few bloodied letters (here, here & here) and Elise Kova posted the first exclusive chapter on her site (so good!), and today it is MY TURN. 
But wait!
To the readers who haven’t read Air Awakens or Fire Falling yet, I’d advice for you to thread water carefully since these posts will contain some spoilers. If you don’t mind, go ahead and join in on the fun OR you can hurry up and read these two books and then come back to participate. Trust me, they are quick reads since they’ll have you glued to its pages until you finish them!

So, without further ado…. here is our next clue!

…..Exclusive POV Chapter…..

Fritz dragged his feet heavily along the ground. His eyes were red from smoke and tears and his heart had turned to lead in his chest. It had gone wrong; it had gone wrong so fast. Out of nowhere, the enemy had been upon them. They’d been warned the route was likely to still have hostile Northerners upon it. They’d been told to be on guard. But he thought the North was supposed to be weakened. There had been more bloodshed than Fritz had ever seen in his life and it painted his memories of the attack crimson.
He’d had this foolish notion that the North was like a tree after woodpeckers, picked full of holes and empty spaces by the Empire. Fritz somehow imagined that there would be giant gaps that had been long cleared by the Imperial army. Maybe it was true. But, if it was, the North was a much bigger tree than Fritz had ever imagined.
They’d been attacked shortly after dawn and they’d fought until the late light of the day. But, the continuing assault hadn’t stopped Elecia from running the moment the ledge under the prince had crumbled. She hadn’t even jumped on her own mount. She’d stolen the one closest to her and ridden the horse hard down along the Pass and into the ravine below. By the time the army had won and made it to where Vhalla and the prince had fallen, the Western woman had been frantically at work for hours.
Elecia now rode within arm’s reach of the two mounts on which Fritz’s eyes remained focused. Each horse had a body thrown over it, lifelessly bouncing with the steps of the mount. More blood, the metallic scent assaulted his nose. The crimson life-giving liquid dripped and oozed over the haunches of the horses.
Fritz’s friend was comatose, but her wounds seemed superficial. He was actually surprised she wasn’t up and moving. But, the prince… Fritz’s eyes drifted over to the second limp body. Elecia hadn’t said anything and Fritz hadn’t been brave enough to ask.
Vhal would be fine. She’d recover just as she had in the Tower. But Fritz wondered, alongside every other soldier, if they were carrying the prince’s body for a grand Rite of Sunset, befitting of a fallen sovereign, at Soricium. Or, if the prince could possibly survive the state he now found himself in.
Fritz turned his attention back to Vhalla. He knew his friend had saved the prince’s life once before. Somehow, even unconscious, even bleeding, even war-torn, he’d put his coin on her over anyone else to be able to do it again.

OH.MY.GOSH RIGHT???? Reading Fritz POV just gave me the chills. I can’t believe that they are carrying their bodies just like that, shouldn’t they be more careful with Aldrik’s?!?! But Elecia must know something. She must know what Aldrik was planning before that fateful encounter or she wouldn’t be that determined to keep moving on. And I’m also with Fritz, Vhalla is somehow fighting to keep Aldrik alive. I’m guessing she is conscious inside her own mind, trapped or by choice. And Aldrik, HE WILL LIVE. I’m sure he knew something like this would happen. IF that body they are carrying around is in fact Aldrik. Think about that for a sec.
Again, piecing together the bloodied letters that Elise sent out to a few readers, one of them being a list of supplies needed for some kind of potion or spell, so it clearly shows  seems that Fire Falling’s ending is not what it seems.
Before reading these clues, one of my theories was that since Aldrik would probably have some of Vhalla’s abilities just like she has some of his,  he could have managed to project himself like Vhalla and still fight because he’s Aldrik and he would have figured out how to do just that. Or maybe he also used a doppelganger to fool everyone, but aiding that person through the projection to make it all the more believable. He must have done SOMETHING. 
This theory is also supported by other readers when Maud Grefte (reader & blogger) shared a supplies list that Elise Kova sent her. You should really read that thread because it’s full of awesome theories! To sum it all up= ALDRIK IS ALIVE. Or so we think. He better be.
Also, this Tim who was pretending to be Vhalla (read her POV chapter)… she seems to be a traitor, or maybe the key to Aldrik’s plans. I don’t know.
But please, help us piece together the clues  and leave your theories down below! We must figure this out before Earth’s End comes out or help me I’m going to go nuts because I cannot accept that cliffhanger!

    I wonder if Vhalla is unconscious because she's all linked up with Aldrik trying to keep him tethered to the land of the living. I love Fritz though, because he clearly shares my optimism about this whole thing!

    I too think that Vhalla is keeping Aldrik alive somehow through their bond but other than that I have no clue… We need to solve this mystery!

    Omg Elise is so creative and omgggggggg i had to pause a few times i am such a mess right now when i read "Limp Body" Okay the potion spells okay gives me hope and omg yes i felt that someone was a traitor but yes Aldrik usually has a plan

    Interesting that Vhalla is comatose after her injuries. I believe there is some clue in this that we may not understand (something to do with the bond). Elecia is supposed to be a very gifted healer so with the bond and Elecia I'm hoping Valdrik is just in some kind of healing stasis. I think he's definitely alive!!

    I'm confused and curious, why do you think Tim is a traitor and she is pretending to be Vhalla? I didn't get that impression. Maybe, I'm missing something. I do need more clues 😀
