Hi! Today we are going to make some delicious Banana and Nutella Crêpes inspired by Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Melissa and I both love this book and we wanted to share a simple recipe of Anna’s favorite crêpes.
(A&E stands for Anna and Étienne:) |
2
eggs
½
tsp salt
1
tsp vanilla extract
¼
cup of sugar
1
¼ cup of milk
½
cup of water
¼
cup of melted butter
2
cups of flour
1
tsp baking powder
crack the 2 eggs. Add salt, vanilla extract, sugar and milk and start to whisk
away until it’s fully incorporated. Then add the water, milk and melted butter
to the mixture.
flour and baking powder onto the liquid mixture and stir so as not to leave any
lumps in the batter. Like so:
batter. Now all we have to do is heat the crêpe pan in low heat. If you don’t have
one don’t worry about it, just use a regular non-stick pan and spray it with a
little oil so the crêpes won’t stick.
4. When the pan is ready, add a little
of the batter (I used about 1/3 of a cup), swirl it around so you make a perfect circle and wait for it to set. Now, when you see little tiny bubbles,
grab a toothpick and start to unstick the edges of the crêpe. Grab an edge and
flip it with your fingers, but be careful! It should be hot.
other side of the crêpe and then place it on a clean surface. Do all the crêpes and
stack them up, but wait for them to cool before you stack them together to
prevent from sticking (you don’t want that mess, trust me).
crêpes and store in the fridge or you can use them right at that moment. It’s
your choice. And that’s it. Pretty simple, right? You should have made around 14 crêpes.
any sweet filling you like (for sweet crêpes), but since we are dedicating this to Anna, we
chose:
- Nutella
- Sliced
bananas - .Drops
of lemon ( I used this to coat the bananas so they wouldn’t turn brown but
it’s your choice).
sauce:
½
cup of nutella
½
cup of chocolate chips
Splash
of milk
with the chocolate chips and stir constantly. Add a splash of milk just to make
it a little runny and that’s it.
the ingredients into a microwave proof bowl, put the timer for 10 seconds and
stir. Do that again and again and again… until you have the desired thickness. Pretty easy.
part, you can pick the version you want to make:
Folded version:
(the easiest one) When you finish doing your crêpes, and they are
still very hot, place your nutella sauce with your sliced bananas (I used 1
banana per crêpe but it’s your call) and fold each crêpe twice so you have a kind of triangle (see picture) and
splatter them with more nutella.
have your crêpes ready, now place nutella all over it then arrange the banana
rounds.Tuck them up really nicely and roll it like a burrito. Now take one
baking dish and spread it with butter making sure it’s well covered so the
crêpes won’t stick. Arrange the crêpes and top them with the nutella sauce.
Place on a preheated 350 °F oven for 15 minutes, serve and decorate with nutella sauce (and sugar glass if you want).
Et voila! Now all you have to do is eat and pretend you are eating along with Anna and Étienne! I encourage you to draw yourself a nutella twirly mustache so it feels more real. Oui? 😉
know… Anna’s crêpes had real vanilla ice cream on them, but since they don’t sell it here where we
live and because we’re poor and because we’re not in Paris, we had to
make do with whipped cream. It was still a treat! (and optional too.)
Wow this looks amazing.. I think I need to make this when payday makes a turn this month 🙂 Thank you!!

Tell us how they come out, we would love to know!
